Day 5 of the writing challenge

As I sit down and begin to pour my words on the page, I feel a since of calm. Everyone on the NaNoWrMo is writing like crazy and I feel as if I am going in slow motion. I have never really been one to write by the seat of my pants, but this challenge is proving to make me get out of my comfort zone.
Often in life we do not want to change because we are simply to comfortable. So for the fifth day, I say take some time to step out of your comfort zone and stretch yourself. Who knows, the worst is that you learn something about yourself you didn't already know.

So tips:
1. Try something new
2. If you fail, you just learned another way not to do it
3. Don't let anything stop you from giving it your all

With life, ride the wave and finish strong!!

Day 3 of writing challenge...

Well today was a slow start, but a powerful finish! Starting this morning with only 552 words, I was struggling to get the words out. However, once my writing groove took over the words begin to flow.

So the word I would like to share today is persistence. Being determined to finish no matter if the baby grabs your attention, or you have to cook a million meals (LOL) deciding to stay the course is the main objective. There will always be an excuse to keep you from doing things, but what do you want to say at the end of the say...I didn't bother to try or I gave it my all and it worked!

Yesterday I did not reach my goal and I must admit it was a little discouraging considering this challenge only works if you type some many words a day. So today I had to kick it into high gear and I finished with 2906 words!! Woohoo...Giving me a total of 5217..which is a great start to a wonderful romance....

So when life gets in the way or things happen beyond your control, remember that being persistent can mean the difference between getting published and wanting to be published.

Happy Writing Everyone!!

NaNoWrMo

National November Writing Month:

Excited to start the challenge off with 2311 words typed today!!

The journey truly begins with a word and so the next 29 days I will be writing and blogging about my journey. Today's challenged started with a sinus head ache due to the change in weather and a 15 month old who  loves to get into everything (especially crayons ;-).

So once she was settled down for a nap I decided to make a mad dash to the computer to write as many words as possible. I am working on my second book that is set in the same town as the first one Lincolnton, Kansas. It is going to be another historical romance and I am excited to be continuing with the Malone/Henry family as they welcome a new addition and a family member with a past.

One key technique that has helped me with this writing challeneg is to have an outline of how I want the chapters to go. Having this skeleton to help me has been intrumental in my writing adventures. I also love this chance to dig back into the lives of my characters once again. Having the deadline of Nov. 30 is a great way to make sure I stay on task. I don't know about you guys, but when I have a deadline I am pretty good about keeping it. It's kinda like a grade for school and nerds like me ;-) don't like to get bad grades, so I write.

I wish everyone a happy journey and to remember even if you dont reach your goal of 1667 a day-keep writing.......

Each journey starts with a word...

Obedience is better than sacrifice

Well book one is on the way and now I feel that book two should be following. Sitting here I am trying to gather my thoughts and decide what angle I want to start writing. I love the thought of putting my ideas together and coming out with a story that has a life of its own. Although my world is historical, I would never trade it for anything. Making a town appear from nothing is a gift that I don't take lightly. So, in the words of my favortie character "This is my town".

Thought for today:
Write, type, or scratch down whatever words you want to say. Keep these ideas so that later you can come back to it and add more. One thing that I find helpful as a writer is to keep writing, no matter how tired or upset I am. Your thoughts will spill onto the page and create a master piece.

So today, start with a word...even if it is a single word.....write!

Happy Writing!!
